Plunger assembly mechanism for BDF, Bottero, Emhart, Heye 5,5″ machine

The plunger mechanism in glass forming machines is a unit responsible for feeding and dosing a portion of glass into a rough mold.

Supply of glass pulp. A plunger is installed above the hole of the feeder through which the glass mass enters the mold.

The dosage. The plunger performs vertical reciprocating movements. As it descends, it pushes a certain volume of glass from the feeder into the mold.

Synchronization. The movement of the plunger is strictly synchronized with the operation of the entire glass forming machine and the mechanism of scissors that cut off a portion of glass.

Adjustment. With the help of special cams and actuators, it is possible to change the stroke of the plunger and, accordingly, the volume of the supplied portion of glass, which makes it possible to obtain products of different sizes and weights.
